"The prototype of the kilogram adopted by the International Committee; This prototype will henceforth be considered as the unit of mass;", referring to the international prototype of the kilogram made of platinum-iridium [1st CGPM Meeting (1889)]. The kilogram was adopted into SI at the 11th CGPM Meeting in 1960, resolution 12.
